The Enniscorthy J1's took on Tullamore in their opening game of Metro Division 2B in Alcast park where the winds of Storm Ashley would be evident. Enniscorthy look the lead after 2 minutes as Aaron Doyle crossed the line with Jim White adding the conversion. 10 minutes later the ball would be spread out wide to find the hands of Kevin Barron who dotted down near the corner to score on his debut in adult rugby, the conversion was missed. Scrum half Tommy Cahill who was the next to open his account to the adult ranks as he dotted down with White again adding the 2 points with the assistance of the post. Tullamore found a way back into the game and scored two tries before half time to leave the score 19 - 10. Three minutes before the end of the half the referee deemed that Andrew Redmond warranted a longer break and he received a yellow card for a cynical foul.

With the wind into their faces in the second half Enniscorthy began to hold onto the ball more and after 15 minutes winger Oisín McPartlin crossed over to secure the bonus point. More good play from the home side found them attacking in the 22 and after some good hands no.8 Mikey McVeigh found himself in acres of space and sprinted his way under the stick for a fifth try. Tullamore would come back with two more tries to keep the pressure on the home side but Oisín McPartlin would cross the line for his second of the day and Scorthy's sixth. A Great start to the campaign for the J1's who travel to Holmpatrick against Skerries in two weeks time to look to make it two from two.
