Enniscorthy U16s welcomed local rivals New Ross RFC to Alcast Park on Sunday afternoon and secured their first win of the season following a thrilling and hard-fought encounter.
Hungry for a breakthrough victory, Enniscorthy made a flying start, crossing for two quick tries in the opening 15 minutes. New Ross responded with two tries of their own, but Enniscorthy's powerful running and excellent support play, combined with a series of quick offloads, helped them establish a 24-10 lead heading into the half-time break.
New Ross came out strongly after the restart and quickly narrowed the gap with two early second-half tries. As momentum swung towards the visitors, Enniscorthy showed tremendous determination and resilience to stay in the contest.
Both sides continued to trade scores in an entertaining and closely contested second half, but Enniscorthy dug deep in the closing stages to hold out for a deserved 38-34 victory.
Congratulations to the entire squad on a hard-earned win. Special mention goes to Cameron, Ryan and Cillian, who all crossed the whitewash for tries, while Peter's excellent conversion kicking proved crucial and ultimately made the difference on the scoreboard.
A big thank you also to U15 players Bernard, Will and Micheal , whose contribution and commitment played a significant role in the victory.
Attention now turns to next weekend's fixture against Mullingar, which promises to be another stern test for this improving Enniscorthy side.
Well done to all involved. 🏉❤️🖤
