Enniscorthy’s 3rds team had to travel for the 2nd week in a row in the Anderson Cup and after beating Clane last week they again came away with victory this time in Dundalk.
It was a very tight opening 15 minutes and Enniscorthy playing with a strong wind scored the opening try when out half Peter Kelly finished off a move he had started. 7 minutes later a dazzling run from Killian Creed saw him touch down for the 2nd try which he converted himself for a 12-nil lead. Dundalk responded however with 2 quick tries and with halftime on the horizon Peter Kelly scored his 2nd try and added the conversion for a half time lead 19-12.
It was a very tight and cagey 2nd half but Dundalk did reduce the lead 15 minutes scoring their 3rd try. 10 minutes later Ciaran Doyle produced one of his many storming runs to set up Neil Foley for an excellent try and as Enniscorthy were now in control Cian Whickham scored under the posts and with Kelly adding the conversion Enniscorthy were not to be outdone and a fine 29-17 win has put them through to the quarter finals in 2 week’s time. Their opponents are not yet known.
Enniscorthy had a mix of youth and experience on show and they blended well. This competition has a roll on roll off substitution system’
