Still reflecting on lMondays' game. All the coaches agreed this was our best performance as a team and were desperately unlucky not to win - with Athy scoring a try in the last second to win.

Danny Doyle and Szymon Arnhold played their best games for us and stepped up to take on more ball carrying duties. Danny also disrupted Athy’s line out throughout. Their effort gave Evan, Peter, Tiernan and Noah time and space to show their power game in the short channels.

Tiernans pick and go is a real weapon for us now and deserved his try for a real captains knock. Peter’s switch runs were brilliant and kept their defence guessing. Noah’s show and go dummy made metres all night while Evan was a constant menace.

Charlie was a rock in the scrum and helped give Alex and Nicky in the halfbacks tidy ball. Max’s defence continues to defy logic and tackled like a demon all night.

Ryan and Cillian have formed a rock solid centre partnership in attack and defence with Cian’s kick and chase game becoming a real attacking weapon for us. Ciaran and Cameron didn’t get many running chances but grafted and supported well.

Ryan’s and Cian’s tries were classics for them - Ryan scorching through broken field and Cian’s chip and chase.

Was thrilled for Liam Hennessy who scored a great try off the bench in the corner to finish a strong Ryan Neary break.

For me last night was what rugby is all about - 2 good teams going at it with skill, dedication and aggression and the match not decided til the last second.

Athy were much stronger than us last season but we have shown we can go toe to toe with anyone

Tries: Tiernan Cullen , Cian O’Loughlin, Liam Hennessy, Ryan Neary
