Waterpark lived up to its name yesterday 🥶 as we took on an opposition playing in the Munster U16 league
Playing into the wind and rain in the first half we kept the monstrously big prop quite with some ferocious tackling. It was a day for the forwards to step up and Luke Byrne and Danny Doyle really improved their work rate and contribution. Evan and Tiernan ran strong tight lines throughout.
Noah Doran played easily his best game of the season with a fantastic combination of grit when needed and some great handling with dummies and distribution with ball in hand and some intelligent kicking under pressure - Zinzan Brooke like back row play and took man of the match.
We went in at half time leading 17-14 after tries from Tiernan and Evan and a penalty try that should have gone to Cian OLoughlin after more clever kick and chase.
We travelled with only 15 players ( due to a late outbreak of aquaphobia 😁) and we lost Danny early in the 2nd half to injury.
Down to 14 men we used the wind advantage with smart kicks from Cian, Zack and Noah putting WP under constant pressure.
Noah, Peter and a 2nd try from Tiernan finished them off for a well deserved win. Another gritty performance that bodes well for our final game away to New Ross Friday night.
Massive thanks for all travelling it was a bit gnarly but grinding out wins in difficult conditions away from home is massive for confidence and team bonding
