The J1's bounced back from a bonus point defeat to Skerries with a 7 try haul against Malahide. The visitors would take the lead with a penalty within the opening exchanges. As the first half went on Enniscorthy found themselves getting a hold of the game and after some fine play out-half Graham Barry crossed the line for the hosts opening score. Young winger Kevin Barron added the extras which would be the start of his 6 kicks of the day.

The hosts would look to batter the visitors defence but it would not be breached for a second time until near the half time whistle as number 8 Mikey McVeigh got his name on the score sheet. Enniscorthy would go into the half 14-3 up.

The second half would see two changes as Jamie Barron would replace Evan O'Connor and an old familiar face took to the field as Ivan Jacob made a welcome return to the field for Cian Bolger.

Enniscorthy opening the second half scoring after 5 minutes when centre Dominik Morycki showed some quick feet to dash over the line. Soon after, Enniscorthy had a ruck just inside the Malahide half and after some quick hands the ball found its was out to the returning Jacob who showed that the old dog still has some gas in the tank as he ran in from the 10 meter line.

Malahide would prove they were still in the game after their 8 picked from the back of a scrum 5 metres out to make the score 26-8 with 15 minutes remaining.

Kevin Barron would add to Enniscorthy’s impressive score line with another try in the corner and would add the additional 2 from a difficult angle. Enniscorthy would score twice more as Jacob would run in another try and Kevin Barron also adding his second capping off an excellent days work.

It was a great display from the Enniscorthy J1s whose next league game is Friday week away to Wanderers of Dublin with all support welcome.

On a final note today this game was the last game for backs coach Peter Kerins who has stepped down due to work commitments. We would like to thank Peter for his work with the J1's over the last 4 years.  Ben Kidd has taken the role as backs coach in the interim while he recovers from injury.
